Health And Safety Policy

It is the policy of Tangible Contracts to provide and maintain, as far as is reasonably practicable, a working environment that is safe and without risk to health and safety. The company considers Health and Safety to rank equally with all other objectives in the performance of our business and to this end, our organisation and arrangements for our health and safety officer and management of Health and Safety, have been set out in our Health and Safety system, by ensuring;

  • The health, safety and welfare of all our staff and others who work under our control;
  • The safety of visitors and the general public who use or have access to premises or sites under
    our control;

In order to meet these aims we shall, so far as is reasonably practicable:

  • Keep up to date with best practice in relation to health and safety and comply with all relevant
    legislation and authoritative guidance;
  • Ensure that those who undertake work on our behalf apply the highest standards of health and
    safety for their employees;
  • Co-operate actively with local authorities, statutory and public bodies in the interests of public
    safety and the safeguarding of the environment;
  • Maintain to a high standard the estate and working practices in respect of all the premises and
    sites over which we have control;

  • Consult with employees on matters affecting their health and safety;
  • Provide and maintain safe plant and equipment;
  • Ensure safe handling and use of substances;
  • Provide information, instruction and supervision for employees;
  • Give a high priority to health and safety in all our operations;
  • To investigate and keep a record of all cases of ill health, accidents, hazardous incidents and
    fires, and to report immediately to the University Safety Officer any serious or potentially serious
    accidents, incidents or fires.
  • To ensure that training and instruction have been given in all relevant procedures including
    emergency procedures.
  • Develop, implement and monitor health and safety policies and procedures appropriate to our
    business activity;
  • Co-operate with contractors who work for us;
  • Provide the necessary resources to implement our policies and keep them up to date;
  • Consult with, and involve, our staff/trades/subcontractors in matters affecting their health and
    safety;
  • Provide the necessary equipment and training for the tasks to be performed if necessary;
  • Review and revise this policy statement on an annual basis;

We encourage the full and active participation of all our employees/trades/sub-contractors in order of the principles outlined in this policy statement may be achieved. The statutory duties placed on Tangible Contracts and all our employees/trades/subcontractors are to be regarded as minimum standards. We aim to achieve best practice in our organisations health and safety procedures and policies.


The main responsibilities of our contracted health and safety officer/s

Conduct Health, Safety & Environmental Site Inspections
Produce reports for board (Tangible Contracts)
Conduct training
Assist in CDM-C activities
Conduct Accident Investigations when required
